2020 Mothering Sunday Message by Mama Nsukka
Beloved people of God, I appreciate God for His special grace and protections upon our lives this year. When I consider how the devil attacked many of us ways last year and how God gave us victory all through, I will be moved to sing hymn A&M 108.

When I survey the wondrous Cross
on which the Prince of Glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the Cross of Christ my God;
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood
We were indeed hard pressed on every side, But not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair. It is with great pleasure and profound gratitude to God that I welcome you all to mothering
Sunday 2020.
First, I want to thank most sincerely my beloved husband, our Daddy, the Chief Shepherd of this great Diocese, the Rt. Rev. AE Agbo JP, for his genuine toiling and sleepless nights in moving the Diocese forward in all ramifications. We appreciate the Archdeacons, Canons, Priests, Pastors and their wives whose sincere labours in the grassroots have improved the ministry of the mothers Union and other Women organizations in this Diocese.
Let me also congratulate all our mothers in this Diocese for this year’s mothering Sunday celebration holding today Sunday, 22nd March, 2020 in all our churches. Let us remember that mothering Sunday celebration is an age long tradition of the Anglican
Church which gives us the opportunity to show special appreciations and honour to our dear mothers. Thank you for your consistency, loyalty and supports in our local churches, Parishes, Archdeaconries and the Diocese. God bless you and your family for your great impacts and love you have for the church of God.
You will recall that the Theme of last year’s conference was “living to please God” culled from 1Thess 4:1. Living to Please God is the primary calling of God on believers and that, this should be expressed in our daily lives at home, in the church and the society. In analyzing the theme of the conference, God, through the Biblical concepts, opened our eyes to see that through grace of God, we can overcome the pressures of the world
the system, satanic influences and our selfish lusts, to live a life that will be pleasing to God.
Mothers should not forget to utilize this moment of celebration to make peace with all people, starting from our homes. Show genuine love and care to our husbands, children and visit the less privileged in our communities. Mothering Sunday should be a means of evangelism and visitation to the sick and to the aging mothers of faith who can no longer attend church activities regularly.
Brethren, let us continue to pray and support our leaders in the country. Nigeria is passing through difficult period as a nation. The righteous shall live by faith. Remain firm in the LORD and be encouraged.
Finally, let us continue to live our lives in a way that is pleasing to God despite the pressures of life around us, the true expression of real Christianity is a life of sacrificial service and team work. May God bless you exceedingly and may your days be long and fruitful in Jesus name-Amen.
Thanks and God bless you.
Mrs. Ifeoma Agbo (JP)
President MU, WH, YW, GG
